Job Title: Full-Time Science Teacher (Grades 7-12)

Position Overview:

Hosanna Christian School, a private Christian school located in Vancouver, Washington, is seeking a qualified and passionate Full-Time Science Teacher to join our team. The Science Teacher will be responsible for instructing and guiding students in grades 7 through 12 in various scientific disciplines. Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans: Create and deliver well-structured lesson plans in accordance with the school’s science curriculum for grades 7-12. Incorporate hands-on activities, experiments, and technology to enhance student understanding and engagement.
  2. Teach a range of scientific disciplines: Provide instruction in biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science, adapting teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  3. Cultivate a positive classroom environment: Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions, engaging in scientific discourse, and exploring scientific concepts. Foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a love for scientific discovery.
  4. Assess student learning: Regularly assess and evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments, such as tests, quizzes, projects, and lab reports. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth.
  5. Collaborate with colleagues: Work collaboratively with other teachers within the science department and across disciplines to integrate interdisciplinary concepts and promote cross-curricular connections. Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities.
  6. Communicate with parents: Maintain open lines of communication with parents or guardians, providing regular updates on students’ academic progress, behavior, and any concerns. Attend parent-teacher conferences and respond promptly to emails or calls from parents.
  7. Uphold Christian values: Integrate Christian principles into science lessons, helping students understand the harmony between science and faith. Encourage students to explore the wonders of creation while deepening their understanding of God’s world.
  8. Stay updated on educational best practices: Continuously engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with advancements in science education, pedagogy, and instructional technology.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science) or equivalent.
  • Valid teaching certification or license, preferably in Science or a related discipline.
  • Experience teaching science at the middle and/or high school level is preferred.
  • Passion for science education and a commitment to fostering student growth and academic achievement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies, assessment methods, and classroom management techniques tailored to diverse learners.
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
